HIGHEST centering
HIGHEST CENTERING
Keep the clay well lubricated with slurry.
Pull it up as high as you can; higher !
A revelation in centering for me, was an article in a monthly ceramics magizine about how a Korean potter centered.
He pulled it up as we see here, and bent the top of the swiftly turning clay towards 11:00, as he pushed down; towards center.
WOW !!!
The clay seems to just shrink into a centered mass.
The proceedure should [ must ] be preformed several times.
Each timmes it centers more of the mass. red.button.gif

FORCE PEAK DOWN WITH HEAL OF RIGHT HAND
Now that the clay is centered; flatten the surface of the top and square off the top corner of the “can” form.
Starting at the edge of the cone's crest; lean on the heal of your right hand and force the peak down.
Counter balance with force from your left hand.
Keep wheel speed as fast as you can control.
This proceedure may [ will ] need to be repeared several times. red.button.gif
