There are lots of pin tools. Even so, some times you still have to modify one to suit your own vision.
The one on top is 36 inches [ 92 cm. ] long. It is a 1/4 inch [ 1.5 mm ] dowel and a pin from a cheap pin tool.
WHAT IS IT FOR ?
Tall cylinders often have air bubbles in the walls. As they get taller the bubble can cause the vessel to move off center. The simple solution is to slice the bubble.
IF YOU CAN SEE OR REACH THEM !!!
Your arm will get in the way as you reach into the vessel. So, you cannot see the little bubbles.
Hense, the SUPER PIN TOOL.
Just pull the pin out of a cheap pin tool with a pair of plyers.
[ One is pictured below; the one on top ] Then, make a pilot hole in the dowel with the point of the pin. To do this, push the point of the pin into the end of the dowel. [ with the pair of plyers ]
THEN, pull the pin out and turn the it around. Put the flat end of the pin in the pilot hole and
VOILA !! A SUPER PIN TOOL.
Of course, it is dangerous. Find a very stable, safe place to keep it within reach of your wheel. “Dead”icate some time to find a safe place. You could bend over and put out an eye or puncture yourself.

SAFETY FIRST ! PLEASE

Here are two cheap pin tools.
The top one is the kind you pull apart to modify for your own needs. The bottom one has been cut short and bent.
It is used for trimming the foot of pots that have a belly that hangs over the foot; preventing the use of a conventional, straight pin tool. red button

CUTTING AIR BUBBLES

This is an example of how to cut the bubbles with a pin tool; inside a pot you are in the process of throwing on the wheel .
The cuts are a series of vertical slices that cut half way through the wall; the length of the air bubble.
Sometimes,it takes more than one try.
If, slicing still does not eliminate the air bubble. Try poking a series of pin holes through the wall [ from the outside to the inside ] in a pattern that might remind you of stars in the sky. The pattern can be random.
The pattern should cover an area just a bit larger than the air bubble.
This usually works. If slicing did not. red button
