SAWHORSE TABLE

There is never enough table space around the studio.
This table is made from an interior door found discarded along the road. Interior doors are better than extrior doors. Interior doors are lighter and flat. They are often white semigloss with at least one good side. red button

TABLE HEIGHT: VERY IMPORTANT

There is never enough table space around the studio.

Before you make a sawhorse, you have to determine the height of the table top from the floor.
It should be high enough to work at without bending over, at all; any; NO BENDING !!
Consider the delima of carrying a heavy wareboard. When you arrive at thew table, you should be able to put the wareboard down without ANY stress on your back.
The exact table height is dependent on your height and personal preference. Just how much are you willing to bend.
Keep in mind, you still need to be able to reach the back of the table. Reaching out to the back of the table on “tippy toe” is okay. But, do not over do it. You may be standing there for many years. [ If your lucky !!! ]
You could also consider a floor mat to stand on. Shin splints are nothing to laugh at.
[ Unless, you have had them. Then, you'll laugh, nervously. ] red button

SAWHORSE CLOSE UPS

HINGE CORNERS CHAIN

Most of the wood for the sawhorses came from scrap piles at construstion sites, discards along the road, or in a pinch; the home improvement store's “bargin bin”
The hinges, screws, and chain [ and some of the tools ] came from yard sales
Buying what you need new may be an option, for you; not me. red button

SAWHORSE PLANS

SAWHORSE PLANS

Here are some basic plans for the sawhorses. A key to a successful project is to use a carpenter's framing square; often.
Put one sqrew in each corner; checking for square [ness ] as you go.
Make both sides before you start putting all the remaining scrwes in.
Stack the halves; back to back. Are they identical?
Almost ?
IF they are identical or almost; proceed.
The hinge present the same kind of problem.
Do not just lie them on the outsidws and screw the hinges on. OH NO !!
Follow the same steps.
Put one screw in each half of the hinhe.
Do they line up ? Probably not !!
Fool around with one at a time until the sawhorse will slap closed and LINE UP. !!
Have FUN.
PLEASE, e-mail me with your comments. red button
